with METRO RTA

Starting as early as 6am, you can park your vehicle in the Akron Public Schools Administrative Building lot (10 N Main St, Akron, OH 44308). Once parked, you will find the METRO Direct bus stop on W. Market St. in front of the APS parking lot. Each bus stop will be specially marked for the event, so they can be easily located. Full-sized, line service buses will arrive approximately every 10-15 minutes. You can watch for the METRO bus with a Route 1 destination sign.

There are more than 10 parking lots and 10 parking garages with spaces for more than 10,000 vehicles in downtown Akron. There are more than 1,100 metered parking spaces available. MAP

As part of METRO’s Free Fare Summer Weekends, all bus rides to and from PorchROKR will be free! Once you have boarded the bus at the Park and Ride pick-up location, the bus will take you to the intersection of W. Market St. and N. Portage Path for drop-off (in front of Huntington Bank & the Mustard Seed Market).

When you are ready to return to your vehicle, locate and stand at the bus stop near the corner of W. Market St. and S. Portage Path (in front of the Walgreens parking lot). This is the bus stop across from the drop-off location.

Important Return Information: The last bus will arrive at the stop in front of Walgreens (834 W Market St, Akron, OH 44303) to transport you back to your vehicles around 9:37pm. We strongly recommend that you are at the return bus stop no later than 9:30pm to ensure you can be transported back to your vehicle at the Akron Public School Administrative Building parking lot.

Tips for First Time Riders:

Route 1 Schedule - You can view the schedule here. Be sure that you are viewing the “Saturday” portion of the weekend schedule.

  • When going to PorchROKR, Route 1 will be travelling “Outbound”

  • When leaving and returning to the APS Parking Lot, Route 1 will be travelling “Inbound”

Track the Bus - You can track the Route 1 bus by downloading Transit. This app utilizes real-time bus location data. Transit is available for download on Google Play and the App Store. For options on tracking your bus, click here.

Picking a Bus Seat/Standing Room Only - The first row of seats on any bus are generally reserved and considered “priority seating” for older adults, pregnant individuals, and people with disabilities. When possible, please leave those seats available for those riders.

You may experience buses that are nearing full capacity. If this is the case, you may encounter a standing room only situation. It is important to firmly plant your feet and grab hold of the provided metal hand rails or loops near the ceiling of the bus when it is in motion.

Pull the Cord to Request Your Stop - On the day of PorchROKR, operators will be instructed to automatically stop at the festival drop-off and Park and Ride return bus stops. However, if you’d like to be dropped off at a location along the way (to or from the festival), such as House Three Thirty, simply pull the cord near the windows when you see the desired bus stop approaching.
